Prayer is the link between God and ourselves, and is a very important part of our faith life. Prayer can take many forms including communal prayer, such as participating in Mass, or pivate prayer. Some examples of private prayer are reciting the rosary or other prayers from memory, reflecting on Scripture, or just spending a few quiet moments alone with God.
Whatever form it takes, prayer is how we stay connected to the presence of God in our lives, and how we grow in our faith.
Parish Prayer of Saints John and Elizabeth Catholic Church
Lord Jesus, look upon us, your body of Saints John and Elizabeth Church. Lead and guide us in witnessing your WORD in this Carter County Community. Enlighten us with your Spirit that we may be spiritually and physically present to each other. Give us the courage of St. John the Baptist and his mother, St.Elizabeth, to express our faith openly and without hesitation. As your disciples, we are called to welcome all as our brothers and sisters and to reach out with compassion to those who are in need of healing. Pray for us, Saints John and Elizabeth, that the Spirit will abide and take root in us as we witness the GOOD NEWS of Jesus. This we ask through Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with the Father and the Spirit, One God forever. Amen./I>
